Meet the Artist
"Simplify-Look around-observe nature. See in nature the source of art, of
craftsmanship of truth, of the   beautiful"  Henry David Thoreau

In my art, I concentrate on the beauty and strength found in nature. I
want to share with  the viewer the impact of the  beauty that I have
witnessed. I strive to transport them from to hustle  and problems of daily
life and to bring a moment of peace and contemplation.
Although I enjoy painting outside and seeing details that might not be
noticed in a photograph,I don't consider myself to be a plein-air  artist,
I prefer the more controlled atmosphere of a studio. The effects of light and
color in a painting are important, but I don't try to copy nature's colors.
I try to take natural color to the next level.. by doing so, I stress the
emotional impact of both light and color.
I believe that the urge to create is born in an artist much the same way eye
or hair color is inborn. I have felt the need to create art since I was a
child.  I remember my first box of "real" tubes of watercolor that my
Aunt Carol bought for me. I wanted so much to know how to use those
paints. I'm not sure that I ever got up the nerve to try to paint with them.
I just wanted to look at the beautiful colors. I wanted to be able to create.
For an artist is one who
must create. Ceasing to create is no more a
possibility than ceasing to eat or drink. When I have met friends I
haven't seen for a couple of years, they are likely to ask if I am still
painting. I want to smile and answer, "yes, I still paint.......And
breathe and sleep." Not to do so is inconceivable.
